Today Dr. Ted Brown came in to talk about health disparities in health outcomes in minority communities. Dr. Brown is a public health professor at Rochester that will be retiring this semester so a lecture from him was truly a treat. MAPS members got to learn about why people with the same exact symptoms can receive different diagnosis on the basis of their skin color alone;p why black children are more likely to die from asthma, and why health outcomes for white communities in general have been more favorable as compared to other minorities. Overall a very informative GMM!
